How to Lead in Excellence

Leadership is learned. A growing skill is in demand. It is useful in business, family interactions, and carries over to daily living. 

Good leaders are in short supply, chiefly because it takes effort, work, self-control, and correction. It is about how motivated we are to make fundamental changes and shift our thinking, perceptions, and what we have grown accustomed.

Confidence – Confidence flows through a team just like cheerfulness or a hardworking attitude.

Consistency – Speaks for itself.

Approachability & Friendliness – A person who any colleague can feel like they could have a conversation.

Passion and Motivation – Passion for what you do. Whatever your role, people will respect the fact that you take pride in your work, you enjoy it, and that you will therefore try your hardest to succeed. Passion and motivation will always trump formal training.

Trustworthiness – Ethics and trust has to come right at the top of the most important leadership traits for one simple reason. A good reputation, likeability, and respect will be impossible if you are labeled with an untrustworthy character.

Patience – A good leader needs to show their colleagues that they are willing to give time to perform and learn. A person who aggressively chases will only antagonize and stress their colleagues. Good leadership is about waiting as well as acting.

Ability to Delegate – Why continue to ‘meddle’ in small, trivial matters, and refuse to give colleagues the responsibility and confidence? Building up another adds to the merit of the whole community.

Crossover transferable skills expose you to an incredible range of projects, technologies, and products. Your spirit must love to work on a different project every week or every day. You breathe and take a deep-dive into self-learning, to understand the core functionality in order to make the necessary technical decisions. Your decisions will determine the long-term success or failure of the project. This excitement and passion resonates with your staff and colleagues.

Personal excellence is each of our individual commitment to ethics. This self-directed work demands that we do the right thing, no matter what. This includes the ability to make appropriate decisions, pivot and self-correct, and move toward inspiration, innovation, and service. 

This is the quickest way to increase dignity, meaning, and community.
