CONTENT CREATION, THE NEW GOLDMINE
The art of creating original, quality content is the new goldmine. Content creation involves the process of developing ideas hinged on a particular topic that captures the interests of a target audience.
According to Weber Design (2017), “Content creation is the contribution of information to any media and most especially to digital media for an end-user/audience in specific contexts.” Content, on the other hand, described by Dictionary.com, is “something this is to be expressed through some medium, as speech, writing or any various arts” for self-expression, distribution, marketing, and publication.
Content is created in multiple forms of written articles, posts, blogs, video clips, motion pictures, jingles, etc. They are made available to the target audience through photography, blogging, updating of websites, podcasts, and social media management handles, and online commentary. However, content creation depends largely on both the targeted audience and the needs of a content creator.
The Why of Content Creation
In a publication made by Bill Gates (1996) on the Microsoft website titled “Content is king,” he summarized his predictions centrally on the importance of creating quality content for content marketing. He said, “Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting.” (Medium, 2017).
Twenty-five years after his publication, no truer words have ever been said about content creation. Generally speaking, content creation serves various purposes beyond the mere aim of passing pieces of information to a target audience. Individuals and businesses have, over the years, grown their capital base through well thought-out content creation ideas. These content have either resulted in partnership deals, networking opportunities, and, most importantly, digital marketing and revenue generation.
Takeaway
Content creation is a modern way of creating value through the birthing of conceived ideas into reality. Although it requires consistency for an individual or businesses to begin to gain traction from content creation, the benefits are priceless. Now, create content and grow.
